Parents often ask “what does my son / daughter need to bring to camp?”
Thankfully this answer isn’t a longwinded one! Our photography summer camps for kids and teens are day camps, so the list of things to bring is actually quite short (but very important!). Here is our checklist of things to bring to photography camp this summer:

A Camera & Lens
Don’t panic! If you’re son or daughter doesn’t have their own camera, we offer loaner cameras for campers to use during the week. If you want to purchase a DSLR, Canon Canada is a great place to start. We recommend taking a look at the Canon Rebel Series DSLR models. They’re user friendly DSLRs and great cameras to grow with!
For those that do have their own camera, take note that different camps may require cameras of different levels. Kids Camp requires a simple point-and-shoot, while our Teen Camps require a DSLR Camera with manual mode. Not sure about the camera that you have? Ask us!
Charged camera battery
Bringing your charger and/or extra battery pack could come in handy! Not necessary for those using a loaner camera.
Memory card with lots of room
Not necessary for those using a loaner camera.
Lunch / Lunch Money
Campers should bring a non-refrigerated lunch OR money for lunch. All of our locations are near multiple food options and are permitted to purchase food to bring back to eat with the group. See our locations maps for more details.
A Water Bottle
We take hydration seriously!

Weather Appropriate Clothing
We don’t let weather get us down which is why campers need to be ready to go outside rain or shine! This is especially important in Winter, Fall, Spring and March Break Camps where bundling up can be the difference between having an AMAZING field trip, and having a cold not-so-fun field trip.
Summer campers should have hats for those hot summer days.
Sunscreen
While we have sunscreen to pass around during camp its good for campers to bring their own especially if they have skin sensitivities. We always stress the importance of being protected from the sun before going out for 2 hours on our daily field trips!
Comfortable Walking Footwear
Comfortable sneakers, running shoes or sandals are a must because we walk a lot! Think comfort over style.

What Won’t They Need for Camp?
Well there’s the typical no-go’s at camp that we all know, but here are some things you might think are important but your camper won’t need:
- LAPTOP: Laptops are no required, unless specified by your program. EDITING CAMP & TEEN CAMP 3 require a laptop; remember to bring your charger as well!
- MULTIPLE LENSES: Campers will really only need 1 lens. If they wish they may bring multiple lenses to use on field trips.
- FLASH/TRIPOD:Â Campers won’t need to use flash on a regular basis unless they’re in Teen Camp 2. The instructor will advise on which days they’ll need this equipment.

What are your rules regarding cell phones?
Campers are allowed to bring their mobile phones! However, we have all our campers have their phone on silent and put away during classes. Phones can be left on during field trips for emergency purposes (or if they want to snap a quick pic for Instagram or Snapchat with their new friends!)
