In celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday, Ottawa is hosting a range of events for everyone to enjoy and express their love for our country! Check out some of our favourites that are coming up and you won’t want to miss out on. Bring your parents, you cousins, your friends and your pets to celebrate Canada’s 150!
1) Ignite 150Â (All Year Long)
“Imagine hundreds of illuminated elements, secretly deployed in beautiful public venues, surprising passersby and allowing them to re-discover those spaces in a magical and mesmerizing way, before *poof* disappearing again.”
2) Ottawa Welcomes The World (All Year Long)
“This series of world-class cultural events will promote and strengthen ties between nations on the occasion of Canada’s 150 anniversary.All residents are encouraged to join the festivities and thus, dive into a unique multicultural atmosphere. Indulge yourself in food tasting, musical celebrations, artistic performances and more!”
3) AGRI 150Â (All Year Long)
“Awaken your senses and indulge in the pure beauty of rural Ottawa with Agri 150, a new Ottawa 2017 program stewarded by Just Food. More than 20 unique one-day outdoor events will take place over the course of the year in the following communities: West Carleton-March, Stittsville, Cumberland, Osgoode and Rideau Goulbourn.”
4) Inspiration Village (May 20th – September 4th)
“This edgy-looking entertainment locale on York Street will be the site of a succession of special exhibits and performing arts events, each one showcasing Canada’s provinces and territories. In an unusual twist, Inspiration Village will be built out of sea containers transformed into an aesthetic artistic installation – a sustainable, cost-effective and flexible building material that is gaining interest around the world.”
5) Kontinuum (End of June – September)
“Take part in Kontinuum: an ultimate underground experience with a futuristic and immersive multimedia production created by none other than Moment Factory and projected in one of Ottawa’s future Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations.”
