Over the course of the summer, we will be doing a Throwback series to commemorate every year GTA Photography Classes has done summer camp.
This week, we look at our first summer as a camp 2010 and 2011. So throwback to GTA Photography Classes’ first year of summer camp. GTA opened its doors as a photography school in 2009 and quickly expanded to being a photography summer camp the next year.

GTA Photography Classes began with teen summer camp programs at our first and then only location on 47 Colborne St. Our 2010 summer season was so long ago that we didn’t even have a Facebook page and we had a completely different website! We started in 2010 with 2 sessions of 10 campers each.

In 2011, we remained in the same location but we continued to expand and got even more campers! The summer of 2011 was the year Camps at GTA Photography got its own Facebook page. Its first post was a camper highlights album on July 14, 2011.

We offered 6 weeks of camp, focusing on Teen Camp specifically. Campers were taught with lectures and field trips, similar to how we teach them today.

GTA Photography Camps also expanded into offering more than just summer camps by creating a winter/fall camp. This program worked the same way as the summer camp program but was stretched over a longer time period.

Since our beginning, we have taught photography programs for teens. A lot of stuff has changed but our field trips, the fun we have, and making sure everyone learns something remains the same.
