Leah Ofir is a lifestyle photographer who has taken our Studio Lighting For Portraiture and Photoshop 101 classes. Given her busy schedule as a mom and a photographer, we were excited to catch up with her!
Leah loves taking photos of her children and to capture the special moments of life. Read our interview with Leah for inspiration and to find out more about some of the students we have here at GTA Photography Classes.
When and how did you fall in love with photography?
My dad was a hobby photographer and had his own dark room. He taught me when I was younger. I always enjoyed photography, but I didn’t fall in love with it until I had my own children… when they became my favourite subjects.
How would you define your photography style?
I would define my photography style as lifestyle.
What was your most memorable photoshoot or photograph?
Which piece of gear (lens, tripod etc.) is your favourite?
My favourite gear is my 24-70mm f/2.8 lens.
What’s your next photography purchase?
If I have the opportunity to make another purchase, it would be the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens.
What advice would you give to amateur photographers?
Ask questions… keep asking questions. Listen to the advice and grow each time you shoot.
What workshops/courses have been your favourites and why?
My favourite course from GTA Photography was Photoshop (101)… Lauren took something that seemed to complex and made it fun and rewarding.
Just so we can find out a bit more about the person behind the lens, could you tell us…
What is your favourite pet or dog breed? Weimaraner would be my favourite dog breed – we grew up with a weimaraner/doberman dog named, Abel.
What’s your dream vacation destination? I cannot wait to take my kids to Israel.
What’s your favourite movie? My favourite movie is Mary Poppins.
What would you do if you won the lottery? Make a lot of other people’s lives easier and donate to various causes, especially Adam’s Dream Fund, which is in memory of my brother in support of Paediatric Oncology Research and Therapeutic Clown Program at SickKids.
What did you get for your last birthday? A necklace with my children’s initials.
