Photographer Sean Sicard documents the world around him with a bold eye and a bright focused style. Sean’s great sense of adventure has lead him to tackle everything from portraits, urban life to landscapes and nature photography in his work.
We caught up with this Photo 101 grad to take a look at his shots and learn a bit more about his photography and interests!
When and how did you fall in love with photography?
The first time I visited Asia I realized the power of the camera and how you could use it to convey emotions.
How would you define your photography style?
Bright and focused.
Do you now own a photography business or freelance?
I have an amateur business.
What was your most memorable photoshoot or photograph?
My most recent: shooting a past coworker, her husband, and their two young kids. The kids were very active and didn’t have any interest in having their picture taken, but we made it work and got some excellent shots!
Which piece of gear (lens, tripod etc.) is your favourite?
My Nikon 3300.
What’s your next photography purchase?
I would love to get a full frame camera (future purchase), but likely the next piece I will buy is an ND Filter to do some daytime long exposure shots.
What advice would you give to amateur photographers?
The best shots are never the ones you planned to take!
What workshops/courses have been your favourites and why?
Photo 101 was an awesome course that gave me the fundamentals to be able to take really good shots right away.
Just so we can find out a bit more about the person behind the lens, could you tell us…
- What’s your favourite dessert? Cheese cake.
- Where’s your dream vacation destination? I love Africa and would want to go back as soon as possible.
- What’s your favourite movie? Too many to count!
- What you would do if you won the lottery? Buy a whole lot of camera equipment and travel the world.
- What’s your favourite holiday? Christmas.
