Waters of the World
The perfect exhibit to teach visitors about creatures from all over the world. The gallery displays animals that are found in the oceans, the great lakes, in islands and lakes, and critters from the world’s rivers. This diverse part of the aquarium definitely holds something for everybody with a giant octopus, sea horses, turtles, spider crabs, and more.
Wild Reef
Wild Reef imitates a coral reef that is located in the Philippines. This section of Shedd also demonstrates how they grow the coral for their coral reef exhibit at their coral lab. You’ll walk beneath sting rays and watch as sharks swim by you.
Caribbean Reef
With a 360 degree view of the reef, you can experience reef life from a unique perspective. As you stare at the tank, you can see turtles, the Silver King (who is one of Shedd Aquarium’s largest fish), and watch divers as they go in to feed the fish.
Polar Play Zone
This is the place in the aquarium to look at the penguins and act like a penguin. With a penguin slide, kids can experience sliding down on their bellies. They can get inspiration for how to act like a penguin from the penguin enclosure in this exhibit. They can also check out beluga whales and sea otters and experience it from an interactive submarine. The Polar Play Zone aims to teach in an immersive, fun environment and offers sensory exhibits where they can touch some of the creatures in the aquarium.
