Discovery Zone
Be sure to check out this kid themed part of the zoo! Divided into three parts, there is something for every kid. There’s the kid zoo which allows children to interact with various animals, dig for dinosaur eggs, and crawl through tunnels and it allows for several photo ops. This part of the Discovery Zone is open 9:30 to 4:30 every day. In the summer, the two other parts of the Discovery Zone are open every day as well. These parts include Splash Island; the zoo’s very own waterpark, and Waterside Theatre; an animal training session with animal meet and greet. These elements of the park are only open May to September.
Meet the Keepers
Daily, the zoo offers guests the opportunity to hear information about various animals across the zoo or witness a feeding. The talks and feedings are available at all sections of the zoo. Some of the animals featured in the Meet the Keeper talks or feedings include the Lake Malawi aquarium feeding, an informative talk about the Polar Bears, and an informative talk about cheetahs. This is a good opportunity to get action and/or close up shots of the animals!
African Savanna
Explore the African Savanna section of the zoo to see white rhinos, lions, African penguins, river hippopotamuses, giraffes, and more animals native to Africa. The Savanna offers different buildings including the African Rainforest and the indoor Giraffe house. It’s the place in the zoo to see and photograph lions and tigers.
Live Coral Reef
The Toronto Zoo is home to a live coral reef exhibit in the Australasia Pavillion. This reef includes live coral, moon jellyfish, over 100 species of fish and seahorses. The exhibit is a good chance to see a reef eco system up close. Great photo ops are found here too!
