The second floor of the Harold Washington Library transforms into a total children’s library. Divided into neighborhoods, the library provides services and activities for a variety of age groups. There’s everything from computers to an interactive puppet stage and of course, children’s books of every genre.

Family Story Time
Every Saturday, the library hosts a family story time, complete with a family friendly book reading and a small activity related to the book. The program also includes music and is a great way to interact with your kids and get them moving. They also get discover a new story every week.
Neighborhoods
The Children’s Library offers activities for most age groups and seperates them throughout the floor through the use of neighborhoods. There is the Early Learner Neighborhood which is for children under 5 and focuses on interactive play through things like puppets and story telling. The next neighbourhood is the Elementary Age Learners and allows for kids to participate in STEAM based activities. And lastly, they offer a Tween Neighborhood that focuses on digital technology as a way to interact with books and learn new things.
