Camp Summary
  • Learn new creative techniques
  • Introduction to various fields of photography
  • Light painting and long exposure techniques
  • How to effectively break the rules of photography
Break the Rules

Now that you know the rules, let’s learn how to break them. In this first section of the camp, we’ll show you new compositional rules and how to master your camera settings to go beyond a proper exposure. Explore creative shooting techniques like long exposure photography.

Creative Light

Photography is all about light and this unit covers many creative things we can do with it. Learn how to modify natural daylight with reflectors, how to capture bokeh in your background and to play with projection to take amazing portraits.

Fields of Photography

Get inspired by the masters by learning about different genres of photography like photojournalism and conceptual art. Check out amazing current exhibits and events (past years have included the Andy Warhol exhibit, the Ryerson Image Centre and the Power Plant).

How many campers are in your sessions?

Virtual programs will run from 4 to 12 campers depending on the program. Based on our experience, we have found that campers are able to grasp the concepts better in small class sizes. This allows them to ask questions as we go and get personal attention.

When does registration close?

Registration is open until the Friday before the session begins. Please note that in prior years most of our camps have sold out months in advance. In order to guarantee enrolment, we recommend registering as soon as you know your schedule. Avoid the rush – register early and secure a spot!

What are your registration policies?

  • Prepayment is required to confirm your registration and in the class / camp / workshop.
  • All sessions begin promptly at the stated time. Any missed material is forgone by the student.

Cancellation by Campers:

  • Cancellations are non-refundable whether the camper cancels or fails to show up for camp; however, if cancellation is received within 14 days prior to the scheduled session, we will reschedule you to another session but a $50 administration fee will apply.

Cancellation by GTAPC:

  • GTA Photography Classes reserves the right to cancel or postpone any camp if there is inadequate enrolment. In the event that a camp must be cancelled, you will be notified by email with adequate notice (please be sure to register using the email address where you can best be reached). You may then either reschedule for another session or receive reimbursement of camp fees.
What software do you use?

Each of the online live classes take place on an interactive video meeting platform – Zoom. Upon registration you’ll receive a password and meeting ID to join the daily sessions.  Each lesson is interactive and questions are encouraged.
