2020 Summer Camps At GTA Photography

Message to Our Families

First off, we want to say that we hope that each and every one of our campers and their families are safe and healthy!  It is unimaginable to think how the world has changed in just a few short weeks.  We are working on balancing both fear and hope for the world, but are overall optimistic that we will overcome this pandemic.

For GTA Photography Classes, we are extremely disappointed that this pandemic will keep us from running the unique camp that we worked so hard to build over the past 10+ years. This is extremely difficult for us for a number of reasons:

Campers & Staff

Over 1000 campers and staff, across 3 cities, spend all year looking forward to coming back to GTA each summer.

“I would cry if I didn’t go to camp. Camp is my HIGHLIGHT of the YEAR”

We have received many calls from our families over the past couple of weeks, checking in to see how we are doing.  We are devastated that we are going to have to make a difficult decision that will disappoint both campers and staff.

We are doing everything in our power to make camp possible this summer, but it may be outside our control. With some work, I can rationally understand not running camp. I feel awful thinking about canceling camp on so many kids, Kids that are stuck inside right now looking forward to the days in the grove, playing basketball, or pretending in magical lands with their camp friends.

I know our little summer camp doesn’t cure illnesses, provide long term housing for the homeless, or eradicate food swamps. I know the world is changing and there are so many hardships coming. I know this, and I know what we do gives hope, connection, and love for kids like Thomas and hundreds of other young people.

That hope is what we need now more than ever, and I hate that this summer we might not be able to give that hope.

Parents

We get it! We have personally had to navigate the new world of home schooling, working, and dealing with new routines of this pandemic.  We have seen the challenges of all the new complexities we face as parents.  Balancing the supervision amongst parents, downloading apps on devices and creating new logins, teaching our kids tech skills while trying to stay on top of reading, math, and daily exercise!  It is overwhelming to say the least.

We are here for you. We are here to help!

What This Means For GTA Photography

My second big fear is financial.

If we do cancel summer 2020, how will Stomping Ground weather this storm? We like many of you weren’t ready for the world to just stop spinning. If we can’t run camp this summer over 90% of our revenue will be wiped out. It is uncertain how we can sustain our year round team without that income. How long would we need to sustain before registrations for 2021 can start coming in and help us bridge the gap?

These are the questions that keep me up at night.

  • Will we have to cancel camp for 2020? How could we cancel our best tool for building hope in this hard time?

  • Can Stomping Ground financially weather that storm?

We have to be open with you at this time.

Support GTA

For over 10 years, GTA Photography was dedicated to building quality programs and building this great community that so many campers look forward to being a part of every summer.  This is a small business started in our founder’s living room, and grew on one principle alone;  our student’s appreciation of our offerings.  We appreciate your support during this difficult time.

Our Solution

We Got Your Back, We Are Going Virtual

After careful consideration of all the the factors above and with thorough review of all the guidance from the government and public health organizations, GTA Photography Classes will be moving our programs online for this summer. We have worked extremely hard over the past few weeks, to ensure that we are able to deliver the same great programs, but in a new format.

Benefits of Virtual Camps

  • Same 5-star programs, delivered online
  • Smaller class sizes (ranging from 3 to 10 campers, depending on the age group and program)
  • Private Sessions:  3 (15 min) one on one sessions with our staff / week
  • Parents, we got it! We understand parents are busy, we will take care of it!
  • User Friendly Software: Simple easy to use software (tested on kids younger than 8!)

With the combination of school closures and social distancing measures, our kids have a real need for structured learning and social interaction.

We are uniquely prepared to help your family right now.

GTA has had a lot of experience with digital / online learning.  We have …..  With 20+ years of experience, an expansive online and on-campus course lineup, and 1,500 iD Certified Instructors,  And through summer.

– most on the next page. …. but here some at least.  I will be honest. Right now I am scared. I am balancing fear and hope for the world. Being optimistic and concerned for the health of friends and family. Globally, I am hoping for the best possible outcome during this pandemic.

For GTA Photography Classes, we are worried that this pandemic will keep us from running camp this summer in the traditional sense.  That by this summer, it still won’t be safe to gather as a community. We aren’t making any decisions yet, but are outlining all our options.

This is extremely difficult for us for a number of reasons:

Hundreds of campers and staff spend all year looking forward to coming back to GTA each summer.

“I would cry if I didn’t go to camp. Camp is my HIGHLIGHT of the YEAR”

We have gotten countless messages like this from campers and parents over the last couple weeks and even more just checking in to see how we are doing.

We are devastated that we are going to have to make a difficult decision that will disappoint both campers and staff.  We are doing everything in our power to make camp possible this summer, but it may be outside our control. All campers currently registered for these programs are eligible for a full refund.

What About Overnight Algonquin Adventure & LENS Programs?

All of our overnight programs for 2020 are unfortunately cancelled by GTA Photography Classes.  In this case, all participants are entitled to a full refund.

Additional Fees: Loaner Cameras, Before & After Care, or Materials Fees

We will issue refunds to all families that have purchased loaner cameras, before / after care, or have prepaid for material fees as part of their camp registration.

We Look Forward To Seeing You All Back Virtually
