Just last week, our Program & Staff Development Manager, Lauren Cheong, was invited to speak about Food Photography on CBC Radio 1 (Ottawa) show, Ontario Today with Rita Celli (Weekdays at 12)
Lauren got a chance to talk with guests calling in from all around Ontario and Rita on tips, tricks and stories about food photography!

“There’s a lot of tips and little things that you can do, even if you’re just shooting on your cell phone in order to make your food look petter. A pet peeve of mine when it comes to bad food photography is people who are shooting with their phones and using your on camera flashes. DO NOT use your on camera flash for food. When your flash goes off, you’re basically lighting your food from a direction that’s never flattering. You have a hard light source that’s teeny and tiny, and shining straight onto that plate of food so it really tends to wash things out. The colours always look flat so it never looks appealing. So the very first step to even making food photography on your phone look better is shoot near natural light or shoot near a window.” (Lauren Cheong; 28:23 – 29:01)
