Learn more about this young photographer and how photography is apart of their life…

What is your favourite type of photography?
I like macro photography as well as abstract photography.
What inspired you to start taking photos?
My dad has been taking photos for as long as I can remember. His passion is definitely what got me started. I think I continued because there’s something really cool in being about to take a 2D photo and bring depth and storytelling into until it feels like more way more than a simple photograph.
What camp program/s did you take last year and where?
Last year, I took Teen camps 1 and 2 in the Ottawa branch.
Do you plan on doing camp this summer? If so, what do you look forward to?
I do! I really enjoyed GTA camps last year and this year I’d be interested in the Fine Art & Film course, as well as the Street & Documentary camp. I think both courses offer a great opportunity to tell a story with a photograph and will also be a wonderful learning experience.

What is your favourite location to shoot?
The woods are my favourite, because you can shoot any style, from portraits of friends, to landscapes, to macros of plants.
What type of photography are you wanting to learn more about?
Though it’s not a particular style, I’d like to learn more about long exposure photography as well as aerial photography.
What advice would you give to a beginner photographer?
Just keep practicing! The more you shoot, the better you’ll get. And be open to playing around. The coolest shots I’ve come about were when I took risks and tried something new.

What are three things you want to do this summer?
That’s a tough one, but I think I would spend a day at the beach (and try not to get sand in my camera), try and shoot a fireworks show, and go on a backcountry camping trip.
If you could get on a plane right now, where would you go?
This is tough, but probably the Drakensberg Mountains in South Africa.

Just so we can find out a bit more about the person behind the lens, could you tell us…
What is your favourite movie? A Beautiful Mind will always be a favourite of mine.
If you could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life what would it be? Belgian Waffles!
