Unit 1: Manual Mode
In Lesson 1: Manual Mode, we delve right into the most important components of manual mode! Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO are explored in-depth, including how they relate to getting those stunning blurry backgrounds, and captivating frozen shots. We introduce the concept of stops and use it to learn how each of these three settings are related to one-another. We give you our simple 5 step plan for achieving great photographs every time!Never used your camera before? Not a problem! We make sure that you know the basics of where to find each camera setting as the lesson progresses.

Unit 2: Field Trip
Lesson 1 ended with a bang, and now it’s time to put everything into practice. Our instructor led field trip will take students through a series of demonstrations to solidify the content from lesson 1. Take photos of frozen movement, blurred movement, as well as photos depicting shallow and wide depth of field. Instructors give helpful tips on focusing, lighting, portraiture, and more!

Unit 3: Composition
So you’ve got the technical aspects of manual mode down, but now it’s time to work on the creative side. This composition lesson will present you with 7 compositional guidelines that help to create more movement, interest and intrigue in your photographs all with the goal of thinking outside the box. This class is yet another opportunity to shoot alongside your instructor who will continue to give helpful one-on-one feedback.

Unit 4: Equipment Talk & More Shooting Time
When starting out in photography it can be difficult to know what kind of gear you really need. Instead of talking to a sales person, let us help you decide what’s important. In this course we’ll cover lenses, cleaning accessories and tripods and answer any questions you might have before making a purchase. You’ll also get the opportunity to practice all your newly acquired skills in one final field trip.
