Amid a global pandemic, safety is everyone’s top priority! And with the weather warming up we are all looking for ways to keep safe and enjoy summer. To help you out, here are some great activities to keep your family busy this summer.
1. Backyard Picknic
A backyard picnic is a great way to keep the family entertained, enjoy some food, and practicing social distancing. A great way to get the whole family involved is by having each member cook something different. The little ones may need some extra help, but this a great way to have them try out some cooking skills. Finally set your picnic up in the backyard with some outdoor games and you have a day full of fun!

2. Get Crafty
During Covid-19 many have turned to take on hobbies or crafts to keep themselves busy. This is a great time to try a new hobby or craft, but not to sure where to start? Here is a great blog that will help: the top ten craft blogs for tutorials or crafts for kids.Â
3. Rent Or Visit A Cottage
Get out of the house and enjoy the lake this summer! Ontario has so many amazing lakes and beautiful waterways that are a great place to relax and enjoy or take the kids and have some fun in the sun. This a great getaway for the family and to see some new scenery while staying safe.

4. Start a Veggie GardenÂ
Vegetable gardens are a great way to past time and receive a great reward! The kids get to play in the dirt and learn some science as they watch the plant grow into delicious veggies. Not too sure if this is for you? Try growing some herbs or buy a pregrown plant and save yourself the troubles.
5. Backyard Camping
Are the kids dying to get outside and are sick of being stuck inside? A perfect way to enjoy some fresh air is to pitch a tent in your backyard. Cook up some s’mores either through the oven or over a fire and enjoy the night looking up at the stars. This is a great way to enjoy the outdoors all while staying safe at home.

6. Scavenger Hunt
Scavenger hunts are something every kid loves and will keep them entertained for hours. Either chose different noticeable items around your neighbourhood or cut out different drawings on paper and post them up around the neighbourhood. Giving the hunters of a list of what to find and instruct them to take photos of the objects instead of touching them.
7. Movie Marathon
Everyone needs an in-day every once in a while whether it be a rainy day or just to enjoy some family time. Take the chance to enjoy the day and base it around the movie with themed snacks, games, or costumes for some fun breaks in between the movies.

8. Try A New Recipe or RestaurantÂ
A great chance to try something new it may be a new recipe or a restaurant nearby and bring some excitement into tonight’s meal. With extra time at home try doing something new once a week to see how your family likes it. And who knows you might find a new favourite meal!
9. Backyard Olympics
Backyard Olympics is a great way to get outside, be active, and have some fun with the kids. Set up different sports, backyard games, races, and/or obstacle courses while timing each until they complete the challenge. Tally up everyone’s time to see who is the winner of this year’s Backyard Olympics.
10. Virtual Classes
Online learning has become a key part of the last few months and will continue to be throughout this summer. We know learning through a computer screen can be hard, but there are some courses out there that can be fun.
