Welcome to the GTA Photography Classes Forum
Welcome to the GTA Photography Classes Forum

The forum was launched as a place for photography enthusiasts to learn and share information. From talking to our students we noticed that you want MORE! You've taken Photo 101 - but now what??!!

Well we want to do everything we can to keep you involved in photography and keep you shooting with those fancy new cameras you spent so much money on! You have the tools, don't let them go to waste.

So this forum has been introduced for a few reasons;
- to create a photo community right here in the GTA for all those that have fallen in love with photography
- to provide how to guides and foster an environment where you can get your questions answered
- to aid in arranging meet up groups for shooting with other prior photo 101 students
- to facilitate photo competitions and photo challenges that will keep you clicking all year round
- to keep you informed of any upcoming classes and promotions we will be offering
- to create a marketplace for you to buy or sell used equipment, software, or any other photo related items (this will allow students to exchange items and keep the costs down for those looking to add some gadgets to their camera bag).

If your new to the site please take a moment and register to enjoy all of the features.

Here are just some of the key areas you will find interesting on this forum:

The Studio: General Photography Talk
The Gallery: Photos submited by members
The Gear:Equipment Talk
The Marketplace: Buy & Sell Photography Stuff
The Classroom: Photo 101 & 201 students section

We encourage you all to introduce yourselves here and then explore the site.

OK I will go first:

Hi guys - Ana Belic here.
I am one of the instructors at GTA Photography Classes. I love my job and teaching has become my new passion (right next to photography).
I have been teaching for a few years now, but I still go home after every class and tell my husband how much I love it!!

We developed this forum to create a place for all our students to exchange ideas, create meet up groups, participate in contests, and any other reason you guys can think of.

Thanks for stopping by!
Make sure to introduce yourself and keep checking back in - as our forum grows!!!!!

Hey - Trina here! I have taken Photo 101 but my course career is on hold while I complete my MBA. I live in Mississauga, I work in high tech, married with two kids - 18 and 9 - who are the unwilling subjects for my photography classes.

My name is Warren and I've taken Photo 101...

I learned a lot in that class, just haven't had much time to apply the knowledge.

However, taking up photography, I've turned into a total gear head. Maybe we can start a forum along those lines too?

Hi everyone. My name is Missy Mandel. I have completed both the GTA 101 and 201 photography courses. I knew I was on my way to taking better photos when Ana turned my camera's mode dial from an automatic mode to full manual.... and got to me fully understand how to use it. I will be forever grateful for her patience and of course her "tricks of the trade" that are ingrained in my brain! I look forward to sharing ideas with other GTA photography members and grow into better photographers together.

Hi guys!

Good to see you on board!

Warren - we have added a section on Photography Equipment. I think a lot of people could use that area to ask and respond to questions related to camera gear.

So thanks for the tip - others are also welcomed!

Hi my name's Nick! I've done both 101 and 201 classes and learned a ton from each! I'd have to say my shots got infinitely better after the second 101 class :P. Love taking pictures of my dogs in motion! I'm really looking forward to the spring/summer time, so things will be warm and I can capture my pups playing in the grass...not the mud!!! Outside of photography I'm a Relationship Project Leader working for Scotiabank, International. Been there for almost 6 years now. Wow does time fly!!

Hello everybody!
My name's Yuki and I've done 101 last month. I'm looking forward to start 201 - just waiting for Monday/Wednesday night classes or maybe a bootcamp on the weekend... =)
Well, my passion for photography started when I was very little. I used to waste a lot of my dad's film making photoshoots for my Barbie dolls and Teddy bears. =P
Then, back in 2003 my hubby gave me a Canon A60 as a birthday gift and I just loved taking pictures and being "creative".
Right now I'm taking a break from IT (been working as a Web Developer for 7 years now) and trying to get into photography professionally. I really want to feel what it's like to work with something that I actually care about. I thought working with photography would be a lot easier than computer programming, but I must say it's no easy task. hehe

Cool! The reference to the A60 and IT caught my eye in this post. Interestingly enough, my wife game me an A80 back in 2004, which got me started taking photos :) I loved that little camera! I'm also in the IT field (I'm a Comp Eng) but am still enjoying the work at the Bank. Although it's much more fun being a project manager these days! Less coding, less hours debugging code, more people management.

That's great that you're looking to do this professionally! Can't wait to see your future work!! As for myself, I'd love to get out there and take some photos professionally. I guess we'll see what opportunities come up!
